The black dot on the distribution map represents a county record.
Six Saga pedo specimens were found in Section 18 of Tompkins Township, Jackson County, Michigan from September 1970 to August 1972, in two small areas about a quarter mile apart from each other and separated by a cultivated field. The family who owned the cultivated field had sent farm equipment to England, Denmark, and Italy to participate in plowing contests. It was hypothesized that S. pedo originated in Italy and arrived in Jackson County as eggs adhered to the farm equipment or in soil that was adhered to the equipment. Organized hunts for S. pedo were conducted in August 1971 and again in August 1972; no specimens were found in either hunt. Irving J. Cantrall published an account of these events in The Great Lakes Entomologist in 1972.
Saga pedo has been found in the United States only in Jackson County, Michigan.
*North America, north of Mexico.
