Hebard reported in (1935) that Neoconocephalus ensiger was first recorded in Bernalillo County, New Mexico by Rehn in 1904, then by Hebard in 1921. Hebard found N. ensiger in Albuquerque at 4,943 feet, at night, in marshy areas in the Rio Grande River valley. Hebard speculated that this species would likely be found in the upper Rio Grande valley and the mountain valleys of Colorado.
