Four of the eastern species overwinter only as juveniles, one overwinters only in the egg stage, and two overwinter in a mixture of stages. Four of the species have one generation per year, one has two generations per year, and two have overlapping or continuous generations. Gryllus fultoni in north Flordia has a partial 2nd generation of adults, but whether their progeny contribute to the population of overwintering adults is not known.
[Note: Information on the life cycles of western populations of G. veletis will need to be added once it is available.]
