Weissman et al. (2026) reviewed and discussed Ammopelmatus Jerusalem crickets from several western states in the US and Mexico and British Columbia, Canada. From their studies, which spanned over 45 years, they described 105 new species; recognized 12 previously named taxa as valid; confirmed A. californicus as a junior synonym of A. longispinus and synonymized A. monahansensis under A. mescaleroensis; and declared 6 species to be nomen dubium.
