Length 12–17 mm. Forewings covering less than two-thirds of abdomen; length of forewings generally less than 2.3 (males) or 2.2 (females) times medial length of pronotum. Stridulatory file with 45–70 teeth, 0.9 to 1.5 mm long.

Musical bush cricket—wings longer; more than 70 teeth in stridulatory file; loud calling song.
