Song: Weissman and Gray (2019) described the song as a medium-fast chirp with 3-5 pulses per chirp, 90-270 chirps per minute. Pulse rate 18-29 at 25°C.

Habitat: Desert grasslands, extending into desert scrub and upper desert grassland/oak conifer zones; also suburban neighborhoods. Frequently arboreal.
Life cycle: One generation per year. No egg diapause.
Season: Eggs are laid in late summer (August) when the monsoon rains arrive. The nymphs grow slowly through the winter and mature in late spring (May). Adults persist through the summer season.
Name derivation: Named for David C. Lightfoot, who was the first to recognize this taxon and who helped the senior author of Weissman and Gray (2019) with "...companionship, counsel, and comradery for over 40 years."
