Song: Pulse trains are widely spaced with individually countable pulse trains. Length of pulse trains is 50±20 ms. Pulse trains repeat at a rate of 5.31±0.69 s-1. Mean peak frequency is 14.35±0.77 kHz. Long, variable echemes contain on average 38±19 (range 12–89) pulse trains. Silent intervals between echemes range from 7 to 29 s.
Identification: Morphology
Male supra-anal plate
A. constrictans, heart-shaped, expanded laterally and indented on the caudal margin.
A. amathitis, A. costalis, A. longipennis, and A. morsei, rounded supra-anal plate (A. morsei may be square with rounded edges).

Male paraproct processes
A. constrictans, apical tooth.
A. amathitis, A. costalis, A. hulodomus, A. longipennis, and A. morsei, subapical tooth.

Male titillators
A. constrictans, short and barely curved. Notched at the base, a character state shared only with A. morsei.
Rest of the Diminutiva Group, long and distinctly curved arms.

Female subgenital plates
A. constrictans, short, triangular subgenital plate processes. Lateral processes are longer than wide.

Range: South Coast Ranges of California bordering the Pacific Ocean.
Habitat: Coastal dunes, coastal sage scrub, chaparral, and oak savanna from beachfront to mountain slopes.
Season: Adults are active late spring through summer.
